The objectives of the workshop were as following:

The CirculaWASTE project organized a comprehensive training workshop aimed at enhancing knowledge and understanding of sustainable waste management practices. The workshop took place from 15th to 21st July and featured a diverse schedule of informative sessions, interactive activities, and field visits. Participants from Belgium, Spain, Romania, and Turkey came together to learn and discuss various aspects of municipal waste management and its environmental impact.
The workshop commenced with an opening session, including ice-breaker activities to encourage networking and create a welcoming atmosphere. Subsequently, the focus shifted to understanding the fundamentals of municipal waste management. Participants were introduced to the various waste sources and types generated within urban areas, providing a comprehensive overview of the waste stream.The next segment emphasized the environmental consequences of improper waste disposal. Presentations and discussions shed light on the adverse effects of pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change resulting from irresponsible waste handling. Participants actively engaged in an activity to identify potential solutions to mitigate these environmental impacts.During this session, the workshop explored various strategies and technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with waste management. Waste-to-energy systems, including anaerobic digestion and incineration, were discussed in detail as promising avenues for converting waste into renewable energy sources.
